Tips

Helping you prepare for making a day of memories~

Women~ Be sure to wear makeup and to apply it heavier than you would for the street. Even if you never wear makeup it is a must for your session. The camera will make your features look washed out unless you do. Lipstick, mascara, eye shadow and eyebrow pencil should always be applied. Manicure and pedicures are highly recommended. We want you to look your absolute best!

Seniors~ Don't think that you have to purchase new clothes for your portraits. As long as your clothes are clean and pressed the camera won't know the difference. Be sure to bring several styles of clothing. Jeans always work well and can be dressed up or down.

Boys~ The sky is the limit with your attire. From ripped jeans, to your uniforms, to a suit, why not bring it all?

Girls~ You might want to bring a skirt, dress or even a favorite gown. If possible try to stay clear of loud prints, florals and paisleys, as these tend to take the focus away from you.
If you normally don't wear make-up at least be sure to apply mascara before our session. We want your eyes to pop and look beautiful. You will not want to try a new hair style the day of your session. I recommend practicing in advance to get the look you love and desire.

Maternity~ The best time to have your pregnancy recorded is between 6 - 8 months along. We have found that pre-maternity clothing works best. The curves of child-bearing is show-cased best in this type of clothing. T-shirts, tank tops and button up shirts are great to wear to your session. If you have scarves or wraps they work well as tops, too. Pre-maternity jeans are the best for bottoms. We will not zip or button them, but will leave them undone instead to show your growing child. Bathrobes work nice as well. If possible stay clear of florals, loud prints and paisleys. We want to show how beautiful you are and not your clothing.

Family~ This is so much fun! Everyone has their own unique style and personality. It's fun to have everyone together to laugh with and get great images to hold dear. If your child has a special toy be sure to bring it. If you have a child who never seems to get off his or her bicycle, why not bring it? The same goes for a skateboard or any other sport they are glued to. Photos of this kind are special and unique. Jeans tend to work the best when taking pictures of a group. You should try to coordinate tops so that they don't clash in color.

Newborns~ Newborns are best photographed before the reach the age of 2 weeks. It is strongly advisable to contact us prior to your due date to set up an appointment.

Babies~ It is best to pick a time that works around your babies schedule. Right after a nap and feeding works best. Six, nine and twelve months are the perfect times to have them photographed. Be sure to bring their favorite snacks, blanket and toys!

Children~ We have found that shooting on location or at your home is fun for children. Taking them to a new location and capturing the awe and wonder on their faces makes for very beautiful photographs. At home they are more relaxed and have their favorite things surrounding them. We love to follow them around and capture the precious moments of them at play. Children can be so much fun to dress up and they love it too! Little girls look adorable in dresses, hats, bare feet or boots. Little boys are sweet in scarves, hats, sweaters and jackets. The options are endless when it comes to their wardrobe. Plan on at least 2 outfit changes. We can discuss this more once the date of the session is scheduled.
